As usual we decorated a tree with lace, this year it was teardrop designs.
This was our colourful display at the 2019 Makit Fenland Lace Fair.
Materials for the ‘Little Trees in s’Gravenmoer’ workshop on the 7 November are: Lacemaking equipment. 22 pairs wound with linen 60/2, Anchor 40, Tanne 50 or similar thread maximum of 30cm on each Bobbin. 1 gimp pair wound with Perle 5 or Perle 8, contrast or matching maximum 20cm on each bobbin.
Denise showed us how to make necklaces and bracelets out of looped beads. It was a very quiet evening with everyone concentrating hard on counting beads!
Firstly, our October 3rd meeting will be a beading workshop with Denise Bending. Denise will provide all the equipment needed, but if you have beading needles or a beading mat, you could bring them along. Two days later, you can replenish all your lace supplies at the Makit Fair. ‘Whole stitch, Half stitch, Twist’ is now open at the Norris Museum, St Ives. Demonstration days are on 5th and 19th August, and 2nd and 16th September, with a Workshop for you to have a go at making a small piece of lace yourself on Friday 30 August.
